You will have the opportunity to meet with Jessica at no cost to chat and ask any questions you may have, so you can ensure you make a good team. Jessica is happy to meet in person or virtually, whichever you are most comfortable.
In-Person Birth Doula Services include:
2 prenatal visits, at your location, to get to know each other
Positions and tools to ease discomfort and help labor progress
Review of medical interventions, options, risks, and benefits
Help writing a simple birth plan (if interested)
1 prenatal postpartum planning session
Unlimited support by phone, text, or email upon hire
On-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, starting at 36 weeks until birth
Continuous support during your labor and into the immediate postpartum period
Assistance with establishing breast/chestfeeding
Access to Rooted In Birth's client portal, full of information & resources
1 postpartum follow-up home visit, for processing labor experience, lactation support, & emotional and informational support
Discounts on private childbirth classes, placenta encapsulation, and lactation support

Remote Doula Support
If it isn't possible for a doula to be at your birth or you already have enough support people in the room, a remote birth doula is just what you need.

Yes! A doula supports both you and your partner. Think of it like a tour guide who has been there and can point out all the good sights. They can help your partner to support you and to know what is normal.

Many private insurance plans and some state Medicaid programs now cover or reimburse doula care. The state of Maine will begin covering doulas in 2028 under MaineCare. We hope that private insurance will follow. Many companies will reimburse for doula support, so check with your employer.

Before receiving an epidural, some sensations require focus and support to work through. Your doula helps you stay comfortable by guiding your breathing, suggesting effective positions, and using massage and other comfort measures. Even after an epidural, your doula remains by your side to help you stay calm, supported, and comfortable throughout your birthing experience.

If you’re planning a scheduled cesarean birth, your doula helps you prepare by understanding your options and what to do if labour begins before your scheduled date. On the day of your birth, your doula ensures things flow smoothly, offering emotional reassurance and guidance with bonding and your baby’s first feeding. Once you’re home, your doula continues to provide gentle, informed support as you recover and adjust to caring for your baby with confidence.
